Helpful Shabbat Tips and Teaching:
  • Don't feel like you have to make everything on Friday before Shabbat begins, starting earlier in the week, refrigerating, and reheating on Friday could save time and stress.
  • Here is an article by Akiva Gersh about how to use Shabbat as a form of social action.
  • "Know the great reality, the richness of existence that you always encounter. Contemplate its grandeur, its beauty, its precision, its harmony. Be attached to the legions of living things who are constantly bringing forth everything beautiful." - Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook
  • According to the ten commandments and throughout Jewish law, your animals need to rest on Shabbat as well as yourself. Exodus 20:10 - "but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God: you shall not do any work—you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, or your cattle..." and Deuteronomy 5:14 - "but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your ox or your ass, or any of your cattle..." (NJPS translation).
